Photographer Douglas Kirkland on snapping those iconic Marilyn Monroe photos

Douglas Kirkland is the man behind Marilyn Monroe’s most iconic photographs. You know the ones, the pictures of Marilyn Monroe wrapped in silk sheets. Since then, Kirkland has been a prominent photographer for Hollywood’s A-list—he’s taken photos of everyone from Brigitte Bardot, Sophia Loren and Diana Ross to Mick Jagger, Michael Jackson and Andy Warhol.

The famed celebrity photographer stopped by The Social today to share stories from his time behind the lens. He divulges on what really happened during his shoot with Marilyn and how he convinced Elizabeth Taylor to let him photograph her. Douglas also talked about his most memorable experience on a movie set (Hint: It’s where he met his wife!)

Watch the video above for the full interview.

If you're in the Toronto area, you can check out Douglas' full exhibit “A Life In Pictures” at the Izzy gallery until June 30.
