The owner and founder of Fresh restaurants, Ruth Tal, shares four delicious recipes for your juicer.

EASY GREEN

Cilantro and mint were made for each other. Their flavors blend beautifully into a green juice. Cilantro is one of the premier herbs for detoxification and cleansing, which makes it popular among juice lovers. It has also traditionally been used for improving blood sugar levels and improving cholesterol.

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup mint
  • 1/2 cup cilantro
  • 1cup spinach
  • 1 cup kale
  • 1 cucumber
  • 2 cups pineapple
  • 3 apples

Method:

  • Juice all ingredients in the above order. Pour with love. Enjoy.


VITAMIN C ELIXIR

I could sing the praises of Vitamin C all day long! Vitamin C is a ferocious antioxidant. It also helps make collagen, supports the immune system and helps our bodies absorb iron.

Aside from containing the highest botanical source of vitamin C, cayenne pepper is considered an accentuator medicinal spice. Meaning, it amplifies the nutritional efficacy of the nutrients it is combined with in a synergistic fashion. So combined with citrus, it boosts the powerful effects of the vitamin C to great new heights.

It is also rich in capsaicin and contains vitamin b6, vitamin E, potassium, manganese and flavanoids.

Ingredients:

  • 2 oranges
  • 2 lemons
  • 2 apples
  • 6 carrots
  • 2 shakes cayenne pepper

Method: 

  • Juice all ingredients. Pour with love into a tall glass. Garnish with a shake of cayenne pepper. Enjoy.


ANTIOXIDANT

These are the antioxidants: vitamin C, vitamin A, selenium, beta-carotene and vitamin E.

Antioxidants protect your body against oxidation and subsequent damage. A great example of this is how the white flesh of a crisp apple will go brown, not long after it’s been sliced. This browning process is the result of oxidation. A similar thing occurs inside our very own bodies, as we are exposed to stress, toxins and pollutants in the environments all around us.

Although we get new cells to replace the old ones all the time, sometimes the damaged cells remain. These are called free radicals and they continue the process of oxidation at a cellular level. Free radicals expose us to the potential of disease from the inside out.

Eating an antioxidant-rich diet is one of the most important things we can do to protect ourselves from the onset of disease as well as to look and feel healthier longer. You can help your body by supplying it with liberal amounts of antioxidants in the form of citrus, carrots, green leafy vegetables, root vegetables, berries, nuts and seeds.

Ingredients:

  • 4 beets
  • 1/2cup parsley
  • 1cup kale
  • 3 lemons
  • 4 apples

Method: 

  • Juice all ingredients. Pour with love into a tall glass. Enjoy.

Apple Ginger Glow

This juice truly makes you glow from the inside out. It’s super alkalizing, hydrating and cleansing. 
 
Ginger strengthens our immunity, increases our body’s metabolic rate and improves circulation in the body. It’s been used for centuries as a remedy for pain and has strong anti-inflammatory properties. Raw ginger clears the sinuses and eases nausea. It is known to be both anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory. Taken before a meal, it stokes the appetite and fires up the digestive juices.
 
Green apples are naturally high in vitamin C, and are low in calories. Lemon is cleansing and purifying, and also very high in vitamin C. 
 
Ingredients:
  • 4” x raw ginger
  • 4   x green apples
  • 2  x lemons
Method:
  • Juice all ingredients in the above order. Pour with love. Enjoy.  


BONUS RECIPE: CLEAN GREEN

Dandelions are more than an unloved weed. They are a nutritionally powerful plant. Dandelion greens are antioxidant and diuretic, they detoxify the liver, kidneys and digestive systems. We purposely left out the apple here to reduce the sweetness. Dandelion spinach celery and parsley taste harsh on their own but when you juice them they become somehow balanced, refreshing and delicious. This green combination is a good choice for a detoxifying juice cleanse.

Ingredients:

  • 2-inch piece fresh ginger
  • 1/2 cup parsley
  • 1/2 cup dandelion leaves
  • 2 cups spinach
  • 6 romaine leaves
  • 4 stalks celery
  • 3 cucumbers
  • 2 lemons

Method: 

  • Juice all ingredients in the above order. Pour with love. Enjoy.
