How to throw a Queen's Plate party


This Sunday, the oldest continuously run thoroughbred race in North America will take place with the 156th running of the Queen’s Plate, and to help celebrate, the hosts got some expert tips on throwing a party for the grand affair.

First stop, a cocktail recipe sure to wet your whistle, courtesy of Turf Lounge chef Tom Brodi:

BLUE DIAMOND COCKTAIL
*Makes 1 serving

Ingredients:

  • 1 oz vodka
  • 1/2 oz Blue Curacao
  • Lime juice
  • Cranberry juice
  • A splash of soda water
  • A dash of grapefruit bitters

Method:

  • Shake in a cocktail glass with ice and serve in the signature Queen’s Plate commemorative glass.
