A special message from Traci

UPDATE (September 15, 2016): Take a look below for a special message from Traci.
ORIGINAL (March 22, 2016): At the end of January, Traci Melchor decided to take some much-needed personal time away from work.
Despite her message (and the show’s repetition of it), I don’t think there’s been a single post on our social media accounts in the last two months that hasn’t included a viewer comment asking: Where is Traci? (Word to the wise, it’s Traci not Tracy, Tracey or Stacey.)

This is testament, of course, to her appeal—to what she brings, along with her three colleagues, to The Social’s table. She is extraordinary, honest, bold and even thrillingly brazen at times. She is warm, generous and one of the funniest people I’ve ever met. And, above all else, Traci Melchor is fabulous

Today on The Social, she shared a message, which is equal parts an update and a thank-you for the overwhelming concern and support. Here it is, in its entirety:
Hello, friends! It’s been a minute since we’ve seen each other, and you look amazing. I have to say thank you and I’m so appreciative of you sending love to me through social media, email and, in some cases, snail mail. It makes my heart very full.

The last few years have been pretty challenging for me. I’ve gone through cancer, family issues and last August was probably the biggest heartbreak of my life: I lost my best friend and my brother-from-another-mother when Christopher passed away.

I think I can say with all certainty that this year’s Bell Let’s Talk Day was a catalyst for me. You know, we talk a lot on
The Social about mental health, and that day, it really made me realize I need to put my money where my mouth is and figure myself out. I’ve got a team of doctors—because you know it’s got to be a team.

And speaking of teams, everyone here at Bell has been so supportive, and I’m so grateful for that. I’m so grateful for your support and I will see you sooner than later. And, in the meantime, stay fabulous because you are so fabulous.

I hope I am not alone in this sentiment: Traci, take the time you need. In the meantime, I will respect your privacy, smile and think of you every time I see a funny cat video, and rejoice when I get to see you at the table "sooner than later."

If you, or someone you know, needs help or more information regarding mental health, here are some resources
